Abstract
Considering the oral cavity is the gateway to both the lungs and the intestines, this paper addresses recent findings on the role of the oral microbiota in systemic diseases and overlap with either pulmonary or intestinal microbial patterns. A selection of the most recent insights is presented, based on data published between April 2020 and March 2021.
